For a really good Hotel in Blackpool for the Special occasion ,it has to be the De Vere Hotel , opposite Stanley Park ,great Swimming Pool , nice Jaccuzzi,very good food ,upgrade to a De-luxe room .

depending on what your looking for try Thurnham Hall, very nice location, quiet 10 mins from Lancaster, real quality accomodation.

The Lakeside is a nice hotel Lynda but we found a beautifull one a bit further along towards Ambleside. The Holbeckghyll is top notch. Has a michelin star restaurant and spar. The rooms are fantastic.

Handy if you need to buy a pint of milk, or an emergency loaf!!

Try the Macdonald Old England Hotel & Spa in Bowness, I stayed there about 3 years ago,it was excellent and also on the Lake Windermere, very idyllic.
